Grounding or Earthing: Some Added Insights

"A bit of earth" on the high plains of Wyoming
A few months ago, Dr. Mercola posted a great article about grounding, or earthing, as it is called.  The whole concept of grounding is fascinating to me.  When they find out about it, people ask,  "Is that why I love my garden so much?", and my answer is a resounding yes.

Reading the article made me think of some oils that I would want to add into the practice he described of putting your bare feet on grass or sand to allow electrons to come up into the body.  This is like a major anti-oxidant treatment.

Valor (which comes in a 15-ml bottle or a 10-ml Roll-on)  would be the first one I would apply.

Grounding is a blend of the following oils:

Spruce (Picea mariana) helps to open and release emotional blocks, creating a feeling of balance and grounding.
Fir, white (Abies concolor) creats a feeling of groudning, anchoring, and empowering.
Ylang Ylang (Cananga odorata) increases relaxation and balances male and female energies.  It also restores confidenc and equilibrium.
Pine (Pinus sylvestris) energizes the entire body.  It has a grounding, yet empowering aromatic effect.
Cedarwood (Cedrus atlantica) is high in sesquiterpenes, which can stiulate the limbic part of the  brain, the center of emotions and memory.  It stimulates the pineal gland, which releases melatonin, thereby improving thoughts, cognition, and memory.  Cedarwood has been used for stabilizing and grounding oneself.
Angelica (Angelica archangelica) helps to bring memories back to the point of origin before trauma or anger was experienced, helping us to release negative feelings.
Juniper (Juniperus osteosperma and J. scopulorum) elevates spiritual awareness, creating feelings of love and peace.

So adding in any of these oils as singles would contribute to grounding efforts, and the blend makes even easier.

Galbanum is also a grounding oil.  It is included in the essential oil blend of Gathering, which helps one to gather in scattered energy.

The fragrant influence of Galbanum is harmonic and balancing.2

Root Chakra
Chakra chart from wellspringreiki.com
Grounding also has to do with the root chakra, which extends in a cone starting at the pelvis and going in a funnel down to the ground.  The root chakra has to do with money, survival, and temporal issues.  It is RED, so if you want to be more grounded, wear red!  You can also hum the note C, or listen to a song in C Major.  You can say, "I am a Mother.  I have.", or "I am a Father. I have."  These are both affirmations and archetypes that go with the root chakra.

Spiritual Layer
Although it may seem counter intuitive, grounding is one of the things that we must do to heal on the spiritual layer.  If we are not fully grounded, with our spirits fully connected to our bodies, than we cannot heal.  We NEED to be connected to the mother earth in a literal way in order for us to progress and learn what we need to in this mortal life.  Without that connection, which is sometimes called the mind-body connection, we cannot heal on the spiritual layer.  When we don't heal on any one of the four layers of healing - spiritual, mental, emotional and/or physical - the ailment may be cured of symptomatic behavior for a time, but the ailment will always come back.  When we are grounded, we have gratitude for the earth, our body, and our chance to grow and progress in mortality.  This is where grounding really starts to make sense!

"I don't like feet!"  or  "I don't like my feet to be touched!"
Have you ever heard that from anyone?  Or do you feel like that?  The reason that feeling or emotion is present is because that person does not want to be in their body and connected to the earth, and consequently, they aren't.  This leads to the problems mentioned above, problems of not being fully immersed in the body and/or fully grateful for the body, and what it means to be in the body, connected to the earth, and having the opportunity to learn and grow in mortality.  Just understanding this concept and acknowledging it is huge, meaning that it leads to resolving it.  You can also use the mind/body connector point that you learn in Foot Zone to aid in this process.  Energetically, anytime someone holds your feet, this calls your spirit to be fully immersed in your body, which is necessary for healing.  Using the grounding techniques above - the bare feet in the grass, using the oils (like Valor - which gives you courage and confidence to face mortality!), affirming the root chakra - all these will resolve that emotion.  You can also use the Emotion Code to free up that trapped emotion that no longer serves you.

Remember this:  We need to be connected to the Earth!  We need to stay with the Earth.3  If we do, will be caught up in the clouds of glory with the Savior, Jesus Christ, when he returns to the Earth.4
If we remain with the Earth we remain with Him.  What a glorious day that will be!

Zyto Compass Bio-Survey: Scam or Effective Tool?

I belong to a Young Living Essential Oils discussion group on Linked-In, and a question came up awhile back about the Zyto Compass.  One woman posted this comment, "I think it's a complete waste of money and makes people dependent on it. Personally, I have had many Zyto readings done and they have been completely different every time - even when taking them 10 minutes apart. I think it's a nice idea, but in the end is a scam. (And it is very costly.).... Depending on a machine doesn't fit into my understanding of holistic health and well being. Muscle testing and intuition, trusting my own body and energy, are far more effective and empowering than relying on a machine."

Since I believe there are others with the same feelings about the Zyto, I want to share the reply that I posted on the Linked-In discussion group (slightly edited).

Young Living Independent Distributor
I totally agree with you L______ on the fact that muscle testing and intuition, and trusting in your own body and energy are a step up from the Compass, which is relying on a machine. There is no doubt that being self-reliant is more valuable, and I encourage my clients to learn these skills.

However, I have found it to be a useful and effective tool in the case where time is an issue (it's a lot faster than muscle testing a whole bunch of products), or my own energy is an issue (I'm not in the clear from being stressed or tired), and also, when the person I'm working with is not familiar with muscle testing and the Zyto Compass technology is easier for them to accept and understand.

The reason your readings have been different every time, even ten minutes apart, is because the Zyto is VERY precise, and even the reading of your energy one time changes your energy. This is a basic Quantum Physics principle that the observation and measuring of energy changes it.  Thus, it is best to use the first scan you have.  I wait at least three days before I repeat a scan.

I have found the Compass to be the most valuable when someone takes what comes up on the Compass Report right after they run the report. That means that you need to have many of Young Living's products on hand. I probably have about 75% of Young Living's products on hand, so when I run on the Compass, I usually have most of what comes up. If I don't have it, I take something with similar properties. I use the products that come up, and I feel the support my body is receivng. I've done that for the last four and a half years, dozens and dozens of times, and my family members (a husband and six children) and many clients, have done the same thing with the same results.

I also use it when I do the Raindrop, Foot Zone, Vita-flex, Emotion Code, or other modalities that I use. I run my clients on the Compass before we start the session, to see where they are at, and then I add those oils or supplements in to whatever we're doing that day. In the Raindrop there is a specific point, after the Marjoram in the CARE model, where you can add in other oils. And I have loved using it with the Foot Zone, because I'll come across a tender point on the feet, and an oil that came up for them on the Compass will fit right in with working that specific point. It's awesome!

I have not had as much success with running clients on the Compass, having them order the products, and then having them take them a week or more later, although I have had some. But I still encourage my downline do it, because it does point in the general direction of what oils they should be accumulating through their Essential Rewards order, and then when they ARE needing support, and I run them on the Compass, and they have it on hand, they are so excited! This has worked really well.

So L______, even though I agree with you on the need for being able to muscle test and relying on your own intuition, it has not been my experience that the Zyto Compass is a scam. For me, it has been a very useful tool (and it is just that - a tool), and I would pay the $40 subscription fee on a monthly basis, even if I only used it with my own family! Thankfully, it is a blessing to many of my friends and clients as well."

That was my reply to the LinkedIn comment.

This picture shows six of the MAIN reasons why I'm so very grateful to have the Zyto Compass!

Valerian and German Chamomile for Sleep and Relaxation

In a recent balance with one of my clients, we discussed some of the issues with which she is challenged on a day to day basis.  One of them was taking on the stress of others, and also just stress overall in her life.

I gave her a Raindrop, which is an application of essential oils to the feet and the back, along with some application techniques on the back, and then afterwards I ran her on the Zyto Compass.
The top two recommendations for her were  Valerian and German Chamomile essential oils.

Valerian is "Calming, relaxing, grounding, emotionally balancing."

German Chamomile is similar.  It is a "relaxant".   The fragrant influence "Dispels anger, stabilizes emotions, and helps release emotions linked to the past.  Soothes and clears the mind."

Valerian  (Valeriana officinalis)
The great part of the story is this:  when my client saw these two oils on the top of her list, she just started to laugh.  She said, "You won't believe this, but this summer, all over my garden on this rental property, I have seen Valerian and German Chamomile plants popping up all over the place!"

Wow!

German Chamomile (Matricaria recutita)

First of all, the fact that she even KNEW what those two plants looked like was very unusual, and then for those two plants to be the top two oils that came up on her Compass Report, was just incredible!  We laughed and laughed when we figured it out!  Goose-bumps all over!

It reminded me that we really underestimate plants and their native intelligence.  Is it a stretch to think that somehow, my friend was attracting the Valerian and German Chamomile plants?  I don't know, but there surely is something there to think about!

My mentor Karen Thompson has been recommending a book to me called The Secret Life of Plants, and after hearing this story, I really want to know more.

The continuation of the story is that my client reported that Valerian essential oil has made a huge difference in her sleep.  She said that the first time she took Valerian, she felt shaky and weak, but then she remembered that Valerian is best taken right before bed, so she did that.  She found that she slept much more soundly and awoke more refreshed.  Yes!  The German Chamomile is still under review, because she was having a harder time remembering to take it.

Essential Oils for Use Internally

Internal Consumption
If I had a bottle of essential oil that was labeled "not for use internally", I would be just as hesitant to put it on my skin as I would be to take it internally.

The wonderful thing about essential oils is that they are "bioavailable" to the body.  When you put an essential oil on your skin, it quickly absorbs into the cell membranes, because the oils are lipid soluble and the cell membranes are phospholipids.  The compounds in the oils will also move into the capillaries and will be in every cell in the body within 3-20 minutes.

Can you get more "internal" than that?

If I actually had a question about safety, taking it internally might actually be safer - because at least I have the liver as a filter before it gets to my bloodstream.

I have used dozens and dozens, perhaps over a hundred Young Living essential oil singles and blends internally with great results.  I take drops in a gelatin capsule and swallow them with water, or put a drop under my tongue, gargle with a drop of oil in water, or add a couple of drops of oil to my water bottle. My friend and mentor Karen Thompson has told me that she has taken all of Young Living's oils internally, except for Idaho Tansy, and the exception on that one is only because she hasn't had the occasion to do it.   (I have taken Idaho Tansy internally).  Between the two of us, we have recommended Young Living oils to be taken internally thousands of times, and to my knowledge, we have had no damaging reactions.

If it's good enough to put on your skin, it should be good enough to take internally.

 Application
I believe that if an oil is grown, distilled and stored properly, then it will never harm the body.  Ever!

Can oils cause pain if administered in the wrong place? Yes.  If you apply essential oils to the eyes or the ears, or other sensitive areas, there is pain.  But that is not because it is damaging to the tissue.  It is only because there are so many nerve endings in these areas, that the absorption is too intense.  There is no damage being done!

Oils bring oxygen and nutrition into the cells, and move toxins and chemicals out of the cells.  If there is a lot of toxicity present in the cells, the body may experience some unpleasant reactions, but these are not damaging - they are cleansing.

Oils and Cleansing
Can oils cause the body to cleanse too quickly?  Yes.  And this can cause all sorts of symptoms, such as rashes, headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, etc.  Anyone familiar with alternative medicine is aware of these cleansing symptoms, and knows that they are acute, and not long-term.  In this way, essential oils need to be used wisely, in order for the process to be handled in the right way.  But a cleanse is not damaging to the body.  Downright uncomfortable and miserable - yes - but not damaging.  With the right application, the process can be slowed down and not be uncomfortable.

Natural Compounds
The reason essential oils are not damaging to the body is because the compounds in the oil are natural molecules that the body recognizes, and if they are in the body in excess, the body can eliminate them through the normal elimination systems of the body.  This is opposed to a pharmaceutical drug that the body has no idea what to do with; hence it gets stored in fat cells, eventually, because it is least benign in that area.  A pharmaceutical can also cause the liver to overload, which causes all sorts of problems in the body.  But this is a completely different reaction than what happens in a cleanse.

Harmful to the Body or Nutritional and Supportive?
I disagree with any statement that says that a quality essential oil is going to be harmful to the body - even in large amounts.  Can they be wasted?  Yes.  Are large amounts in most cases unnecessary because of the potency of the oils?  Yes.  But I don't agree that it is unwise to take it in large amounts because it is dangerous.  I believe essential oils have an innate intelligence because they are the living essence of the plant, and that living essence comes with the essential oil.  They have been created to support and bless.  There are only a few plants whose essential oil is harmful - poison ivy, poison oak and sumac.  The rest have a range of wonderful supportive and nutritional properties for our bodies.

I am very grateful for essential oils!

NingXia Red Juice

One of the things that the Zyto Compass highlighted in my family was the need for better nutrition.  While I focus on nutrition and try to bring good food to our family table, and keep bad things away, when I first started running our family on the Zyto Compass, I found that a lot of Young Living's nutritional products were coming up, especially for my children.

NingXia Red Juice
Upon hearing all the good recommendations about Young Living's NingXia Red Juice, I bought some and we began drinking an ounce of NingXia Red Juice every day.  For more detailed information on NingXia Red Juice, click here, and then click on the NingXia Red icon in the middle of the page.

Zyto Compass Report Changes
At first, I didn't notice any outward signs that anything had changed, although I knew we were staying well.  What I did notice over time, however, is that our Zyto Compass reports changed.  Nutritional needs on the Compass went way down, and if they did show up, they were way down on the priority list and had very few biomarkers attached.  When they did show up, I would ask my child, "Have you been drinking your NingXia?", and inevitably, the answer was a ho-humming around trying to avoid the question, or an outright, "No".

What this meant to me is that, without changing anything in our diet (which was relatively good), the NingXia Red juice was taking care of the nutritional needs of our family.  What a blessing!

The Kids Ask for It!
The other big thing I noticed is that the kids were asking for it.  Whenever I pulled out the NingXia bottle, everybody wanted some.  Unlike the green smoothies I make, which the kids sometimes turn down, NingXia is always a popular offering.

Can't Be Without It
We did have one month this past year where finances were tight, so I didn't buy NingXia Red that month.  I wished I had it many times over during that month!  Of course it was the month that everyone needed more support for their immune system.  Thank goodness we had our oils, but it sure would have been nice to have the NingXia as well.  Conclusion:  Bad idea to be without our NingXia!

Cost
By far the cheapest way to get NingXia Red is to buy the Essential Rewards Pack (Item 4893).  You have to be signed up for Essential Rewards to buy this pack.  It includes four 25.35-oz bottles of NingXia Red juice along with thirty 2-oz. individual packets.  These are super convenient, especially for family members on the go.  It comes out to $1.06 per ounce (not including taxes and S&H).  In addition, if you're on Essential Rewards, you get an additional percentage back in rewards points (10-20% depending on how long you have been on Essential Rewards).  Even though it's an expense, I love how NingXia Red keeps my family healthy!

What has been your experience with NingXia Red Juice?  Or if you haven't tried it, will you order a bottle and give it a try?

Taking care of Mother Nature

I love this quote from Gary Young, the founder of Young Living:

To grow, harvest, and distill is a lot of work and a huge expense. Our world has turned to technology and synthetic production in the laboratory. By the time the world discovers that Mother Nature’s pure substances are the best, it could be too late to begin producing them again for world consumption.  I am committed to producing Mother Nature’s pure essential oils and to teaching our growers how to maintain and efficiently grow and distill each harvest. If I can’t produce and supply Young Living with a particular pure oil, then we will go without it until I am able to find a good source or grow the plants and trees on one of my farms that will produce the oil that we need.  The mission of Young Living is to provide wellness, purpose, and abundance to those in the world seeking a better way of life. We are not about providing synthetic, non-therapeutic essential oils, which are not in harmony with our purpose.  What I want for my own family is what I want for my Young Living family worldwide, and I can only take care of my Young Living family if I take care of Mother Nature.  Therefore, I will always choose to do those things that nurture and protect Mother Nature so that our distributors will have pure therapeutic grade essential oils. -- Gary Young

I'm grateful every day that Gary believes in essential oils and does what he does to bring them to our household.

And I'm even more grateful, every day, for Jesus Christ, the Creator of these wonderful healing oils.  It is truly a gift that we are given to help us in a toxic and increasingly polluted world.  Praise be to God!
